Jubin’s Gauntlet

The gauntlet is indisputable proof that knowledge and enlightenment are two very different things. Typically mistaken for a harmless looking sphere, when invoked, the device connects psychically with its intended target. The device asks a series of questions in an instant.  These objects were originally designed as testing tools for level advancement within each order based on its focus. An incorrect response to the sequence caused a stun effect, resulting in unconsciousness and a debilitating headache for several hours. When used within the order, most of its targets were willing participants. Eventually, the device was modified by a more savage member in the Order of Pynaru.  Failure to answer any of the questions with these often led to the immediate death. On the rare occasion of criminal activity, they were used to gain information and to pass judgment on the offender. Use of the lethal versions were heavily monitored by the Elders of the Order of Pynaru for approval, after a group began using them in secret for lethal competitions. Later, the device was adapted as a security measure, waiting to be triggered by unsuspecting trespassers.

Jubin’s Gauntlet is a trap that can be placed by the Mystic Summoner.  Any Offensive Avatar that triggers the trap must overcome the power of the trap using their Knowledge stat.  Failure to overcome the trap will result in the immediate death of the Avatar.
